Optimising IT Are Proud to Sponsor Lydney RFC

On Saturday 24th October 2026, Optimising IT were the official Matchday Sponsor for Lydney RFC’s local derby against Newent RFC at Regentsholme. As a B Corp certified IT partner, we were thrilled to support a community-led club that shares our belief in strong relationships, teamwork and positive local impact. 

A Day to Remember at Regentsholme 

Terrible weather could not dampen the atmosphere as Lydney’s First XV delivered a commanding derby performance. The Severnsiders defeated Newent RFC 54–15 in their Regional 1 Tribute Ale South West fixture, giving the home crowd and our guests plenty to celebrate. 

Bringing Businesses Together 

The day began with welcome drinks in the Gold Room, followed by lunch before the 3pm kick-off. Our Commercial Director, John Barker, welcomed guests representing numerous businesses for an afternoon of rugby, hospitality and conversation. 

The occasion created space for new introductions and valuable networking across a wide range of industries. Guests shared perspectives on business challenges and opportunities while also enjoying conversations about family, friendships and the local community. 

More Than Sponsorship 

Our Matchday Sponsorship was also a chance to celebrate Optimising IT’s wider partnership with Lydney RFC, which began in July 2026. Our logo now features on the club’s staff kit, and supporters can see our sponsorship board in a prominent position at Regentsholme. 

For Optimising IT, the partnership is about more than exposure. It is about supporting a local club that brings players, supporters, families and businesses together, while creating genuine connections across the wider community.

Celebrating the Man of the Match 

As part of our Matchday Sponsorship, Optimising IT Commercial Director John Barker had the honour of presenting the Man of the Match award to Will Green. His superb performance helped Lydney secure an emphatic derby victory, and it was a privilege to recognise his contribution at Regentsholme.

Paul Roberts, Contact Centre Operations Director at Everywhen, praised the hospitality and described the occasion as “a fantastic event and some great rugby”. He also valued meeting people from different industries and learning more about the challenges and opportunities they face. 

Gareth Williams, Technical Services Manager at The Mall at Cribbs Causeway, called it “a great day of rugby, networking and chatting with like-minded people around business, family and friendships”.

Driving Connections Together 

We were proud to be part of the derby-day atmosphere and to cheer on Lydney RFC alongside our guests. A big thank you to all the businesses and guests who joined us, including Paul Roberts of Everywhen and Gareth Williams of The Mall at Cribbs Causeway, and to everyone at Lydney RFC for the warm welcome and excellent hospitality. 

Despite the rain, the day delivered brilliant rugby, valuable conversations and a result to remember. Congratulations once again to Will Green on his Man of the Match award and to the whole Lydney team on an emphatic 54–15 derby victory.
