OIT celebrate National Apprenticeship Week

National Apprenticeship Week is an opportunity to celebrate our apprentices and highlight the benefits that apprentices can bring to businesses, local communities, and the wider economy.

This National Apprenticeship Week, meet Dan Burke, one of our IT Support Technicians who has completed his apprenticeship with Optimising IT. Dan has been with Optimising IT since October 2019, originally as one of our apprentices.

Dan developed an interest in computers throughout his college course where he was studying a BTEC Level 3 in Business Studies at GlosCol. Dan decided that an apprenticeship was a great step into the world of work whilst gaining some great experience.

Dan completed his apprenticeship in September 2021 and is now an IT Support Technician and well-respected member of the team at Optimising IT.

Dan took to the skies and completed a skydive in September 2022 to raise funds for our charity partner Gloucestershire Young Carers, which raised over £1600.

When Dan is not at work, he can be found riding his motorbike around the Cotswolds and Wales during the nicer weather and gaming throughout the winter months.

Matt Cartwright, Service Desk Manager said, “Dan was our first Apprentice success story, his capabilities, drive and his motivation helped him carve his role at Optimising IT. Dan’s due diligence and passion for proving excellent service has enabled him to shine and become a hugely respected and integral part of the team. Saying that, we wouldn’t argue with Dan as he is a Black Belt in Karate and in Taekwondo!”

You can get involved and support National Apprenticeship Week by using the hashtags #NAW2023 and #SkillsForLife.

Climate Conscious IT

In short – it’s ‘IT for Good’. You can choose to offset your workforce’s carbon now, plan to offset their carbon in future, or do both for maximum impact.
