On Wednesday 23rd September 2026, some of the Optimising IT team joined TheBusinessDesk as sponsors of a sold-out networking lunch at The Architect Cafe Bar in Bristol. The event brought together professionals to make new connections, exchange ideas and hear how major developments in the city are creating fresh opportunities for technology-led growth.
What The Speakers Had To say
After lunch, we heard from Marty Reid, Director of Innovation at the University of Bristol, and Dr Ashley Brewer, Head of Incubators at Science Creates. They explored Bristol’s established strengths in AI, robotics and cyber, as well as the city’s potential to support frontier technologies across pharmaceuticals, health, telecoms and media.
They discussed how the University of Bristol’s new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus and the latest incubator being opened by Science Creates, could support the city’s next phase of innovation-led growth. By bringing together research, entrepreneurship and investment, these developments have the potential to strengthen Bristol’s position as a centre for emerging innovations. After learning about these fascinating developments, the session ended with an engaging Q&A session, giving attendees the chance to solidify their knowledge and reflect on the discussion.

Why Bristol’s Technology Growth Matters to Us
The lunch was more than an opportunity to hear about Bristol’s future. It reflected why we are increasing our own involvement in the city: Bristol has a thriving community of ambitious organisations that need secure, reliable technology to support their growth. With a local Office at Finzels Reach , we are well placed to build stronger relationships across the region and support more Bristol businesses as they scale.
Why We Sponsored the Event
We value events that bring businesses, innovators and local leaders together around the opportunities shaping their communities. Sponsoring this lunch was a natural way for us to support those conversations and contribute to Bristol’s growing technology ecosystem.
With an office in Bristol, the event not only gave us an opportunity to support the local business community but also, allowed us to help create a space for learning, connection and collaboration. Bringing people from different sectors together encourages new perspectives and conversations that may not happen in day-to-day working life, so for us, supporting innovation means backing the people, organisations and ideas helping Bristol grow as a forward-thinking technology hub.
Looking Ahead
We’d like to thank Marty Reid, Dr Ashley Brewer, TheBusinessDesk and everyone who joined us for such an engaging afternoon. The discussion highlighted the people, partnerships and new infrastructure helping Bristol build on its existing strengths in technology and innovation. We look forward to supporting more opportunities for the region’s business and technology communities to connect in the future.
