7 day count down to Windows 7 end of life

7 days and counting, your business, data and GDPR compliance will be at serious risk.

January 14th, 2020 marks the end of Windows 7; no longer receiving vital security updates and patches, leaving your IT infrastructure exposed to the latest data security threats…a risky game to play.

Your PC’s and laptops won’t suddenly stop working but you won’t be protected from new malware and viruses, and other vendors will no longer support their software running Windows 7.

Don’t bury your head in the sand
– you have two choices to make

Option 1: You can upgrade your existing Desktops/Laptops to Windows 10 if they are not too old, but you need to work out how much life there is left in the them, and the relative cost of purchase for licensing and upgrading costs (likely more RAM will be needed) and these days, we would supply a machine without an SSD.

Option 2: In some cases, taking into consideration productivity, it may be just as well to move to a new machine, as there is less user downtime than upgrading an existing machine.

If you have any sort of Information Security accreditation or certification, then the time is now to make the move. For example, current users of Windows 7 won’t make it through a Cyber Essentials questionnaire.
