Optimising IT invited five young carers in Gloucestershire to attend Cheltenham Town Football Club (CTFC) on Saturday 18th March for their game against Exeter City Football Club (ECFC).
The young carers were joined by members of the team from Gloucestershire Young Carers, who are Optimising IT’s charity of the year.
The young carers were able to meet and interview two players from Cheltenham Town Football Club. Charlie Raglan and Charlie Brown, players at CTFC were equally delighted to meet the children and were happy to answer all the questions they had
At half time the team from Gloucestershire Young Carers along with the children and Geoff Smith, Chairman at Optimising IT, were allowed onto the pitch and were able to have a go at the famous, crossbar challenge!
A great day was had by all, especially the winning result by CTFC who won 3-1 to Exeter City.
Sally Gillespie, Development Manager at Gloucestershire Young Carers said, “The whole experience was incredible, the five young carers were absolutely thrilled to have been given this unique opportunity by Optimising IT and CTFC. Every part of the day was perfect, from interviewing the players (who were so patient and kind), to watching the amazing 3-1 win from our great seats to taking part in the exhilarating crossbar challenge. The young carers were absolutely buzzing, one even saying it was the “best experience of their life”. Thank you so very much for making such special memories for these young carers.”
