Optimising IT Supporting Children’s Hospice

Optimising IT were proud to support this year’s Jail and Bail event in support of Children’s Hospice South West.

Todd Gifford, Managing Director of Optimising IT, was arrested for crimes against ‘punny jokes’. There were many occurrences where this may have happened over the last year alone, and Todd faced the jury at Exeter Castle after being arrested by Devon and Cornwall Police in Exeter City Centre.

Todd: “’When Henrietta first ‘suggested’ (suggest is a strong word, more like insisted!) I take part in Jail and Bail for Children’s Hospice South West, I couldn’t say no. It’s a cause I wish didn’t need to exist, but I am also glad it does, offering much-needed care. It was a brilliant experience to be part of this fundraising, I met some awesome people, and raised 131% of the target. Watch out though, I have a few names on a list for next year, so expect a knock at the door….”

After being set the challenge of raising £999 bail money, Todd raised an incredible £1317 for the charity on the day The charity provides care and support for children and young people living with life-limiting conditions and they also provide support to their families. It costs more than £13 million to run the charity each year, and they provide support

such as end-of-life care, palliative care, support for friends and families and emergency care.

We heard from Nicola who kindly shared her experience with the support she was provided with by Children’s Hospice South West. This was a moment to reflect on the reason the charity needs these vital funds.

Jail and Bail is a fundraising initiative run by the charity where those nominated are ‘arrested’, charged with their fictitious crimes and placed on trial. If they are found ‘guilty’ of these crimes, they are held in custody at Exeter Castle until enough bail funds are raised.

Area Fundraiser for Children’s Hospice South West, Henrietta Olsson, said: “Jail and Bail Exeter was so much fun from start to finish! Todd really embraced the event and successfully fundraised over £1,300 earning his release from Exeter Castle jail! The money that Todd has raised will enable us to continue to support children and young people who are not expected to reach adulthood here in the South West, thank you.”

Optimising IT are proud to continue to support Children’s Hospice South West in their mission to support children and families in the coming years.
